The first thing you’ll notice about Mayaka is that her eye colour is pink, and her fur is white and purple, unlike that of a typical Sneasel. She’s also half the size of one! While she’s used to being the shortest in her class, she’s sure to lash out at you with some choice words if you tease her about her size.

As a Hisuian Sneasel, her claws are stained with naturally occurring venom, so Pokemon whose type isn’t resistant to poison should beware around her. She tries her best not to poison folks accidentally and to act like she has everything under control.

While a generally pleasant and helpful Sneasel, she has a blunt way of speaking and is not afraid to be brutally honest. She may come across as critical to some, but she’s often the hardest on herself. This young lady enjoys helping out at the library, solving problems, and has a burning passion for drawing manga (try as she might to keep this a secret from others).

As of Jan 2026, she ties a lilac scarf around her neck (in standard PMD fashion) and has gloves covering her poisonous claws.

This year's start to winter has been ferocious. The storm has very literally snowed in much of the town and its occupants, and the whole thing has made it a little difficult for the Guild Leaders to do their usual scouting around. Not that it's stopped Polteageist from managing it of course - they had a select few among the Lum berries reporting back with what they see while snowed in at the Spire and the Canopy, and by the time the storm has settled and released everyone back into the outdoors they've made their decision.

There is no one here that suits the Lum Guild this time.

It's a strange, almost relaxing experience. While they do have a brief moment of pause while discussing a Ralts with Mightyena, they're quite certain in this decision! With the time afforded to them, they decide to arrange the many shelves of the archives to better suit incoming additions to their racks.

Which is when they find...Her. A sneasel. Mayaka, to be precise!

"Oh dear. This will not do..."

It becomes quite apparent to Polteageist that Mayaka has been entirely skipped over. Not by any deliberate choice of course, but rather because she's been here the whole time! Perhaps ever since the snow first came in, and isn't that just awkward? Still, Polteageist regains their bearings quickly enough to salvage this. And anyway, someone who spent so long among the bookshelves is probably going to work here right?

There's potential, at the least. (And honestly, Mightyena will have her hands full with the lot she just took, nevermind Ribombee's distraction at his missing Pokemon!)

"I do sincerely apologize for the delays in finding housing for you," they explain after initial greetings are out of the way, inviting Mayaka to their lavish office. Normally, they tell her, they would invite prospective members to the guild out for lunch - but at the moment the facilities are still recovering from the sudden storm. "If you choose to stay, I can see about making reservations once they're back on their feet."

The implications of course being that this will be soon, and that it's only if Mayaka agrees. From here, Mayaka receives the whole spiel; Lum is a notably exclusive guild, home of the scholars of the Bay. It's for those who know what they're doing, and more importantly excell.

"I see that you have this potential in yourself - to create, and add to these shelves. It would please me greatly, if you were to join the Lum Berry Guild."

If Mayaka accepts, Polteageist will carefully shake their hand - avoiding any risk of poisoning - before leading her to the housing near the Archives. After that they have to return to their duties, but Polteageist will be available to speak to during future events if Mayaka wishes.
